History of the Fibreshed Movement

Fibreshed is a global grassroots organisation developing regional fibre systems that builds both ecosystem and community health. It began with founder Rebecca Burgess in her home region of North and Central California USA in 2010. Its principles have resonated deeply with those seeking solutions to our disparate and damaging systems; through the affiliation scheme it is a growing global movement to reignite localised textile industries through regenerative practices and processes. Bringing together farmers, manufacturers, practitioners and designers in the journey from soil-to-skin and back to soil to nourish our relationship with the land and with each other.
