South East England Fibreshed
The Fibershed movement works to support the creation of regenerative soil-to-soil textiles and regional fibre systems by bridging the gap between farmers and designers/manufacturers through education, relationship building and systems change. At the South East England Fibreshed we are focusing on working with farmers with an interest in expanding their capacity to work with and sell sheep’s wool, hemp and dye-plants. We are in the early stages of creating a collaborative network of regenerative fibre farmers and London and South East based designers to explore the possibilities of working with the resources in our fibreshed, in particular sheep wool, hemp and plant dyes. We are building a database of fibre farmers and designers whose work demonstrates a commitment to creating a soil-to-soil fashion and textile system.
The South East England Fibreshed is part of the global Fibershed movement started in North America by Rebecca Burgess. The SEE Fibreshed was launched in Winter 2019 and covers Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Surrey, East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Kent, Medway and London.
